ACROSS THE WAY CAMPING GOES ON SALE FEBRUARY 14, 2024 AT 9 AM ET

early camping will be available at 9:00 am wednesday, july 17th at across the way only for ACROSS THE WAY campsite purchasers. early set up will cost $25 and can be purchased at the gate.

This is where most of our camping is located, as well as festival parking. The Across the Way area has permanent showers, portable toilets, a community space for picnic and recreation, a large food vendor, and a community fire. There are also two designated camping areas here - one for quiet and family camping, and one for RV’s with generators.

VEHICLE CAMPING

Campsites that are found to not be in compliance with ALL of the campsite regulations listed below must come into compliance within one (1) hour of notification, or their belongings will be removed and held in the Volunteer Security Office.

Across the Way (ATW) Vehicle Sites

There is a mix of Regular Vehicle, Premium Vehicle, Large Premium Vehicle, and Oversized Group Camping sites at Across the Way. 

REGULAR VEHICLE

$295 plus fees

Across the Way vehicle sites range in dimensions, but all are at least 1250 square feet. ATW vehicle sites are big enough for up to two (2) vehicles, and two (2) large tents. An RV will fit on a ATW Regular Vehicle site, but is unlikely to have extra space for a second vehicle plus additional structures.

PREMIUM VEHICLE

$380 plus fees

These sites are a little larger and/or more preferably located than a regular site.

LARGE PREMIUM VEHICLE CAMPING

$475 plus fees

These sites are even bigger and are the most accessible from our gravel road, perfect for heavier vehicles.

OVERSIZED GROUP VEHICLE CAMPING

$645 plus fees

These are extra large sites, great for larger groups who like to share, or people with larger camping setups.

VEHICLE SITE RULES:

  • Sites may not be combined in any way in order to create a larger site.

  • You MUST maintain a TEN (10) FOOT separation distance between your structures and structures on neighboring sites, but no separation distance needs to be maintained between structures on your site. This means that you are required to keep five (5) feet of open space between the end of structures on your site and the painted border line between neighboring sites. You will need to work with your neighbors so all campsites are in compliance.

  • Structures on your site may be placed just inside roadway lines, without leaving a five (5) foot clearing. Sites must not infringe on roadways and pathways - keep all access roads clear.

  • Structures include tents, vehicles, pop-ups, tarps, tapestries, etc., including fencing.

  • Only portable camping stoves with a ONE (1) LB gas cylinder are allowed on a vehicle site. Only one pound gas cylinders are allowed for portable camping stoves, and all tanks greater than 1lb not securely mounted to an RV will be confiscated by festival security and removed from the premises.

  • No campers will be allowed to store flammable or volatile liquids other than approved propane tanks at their site.

  • NO OPEN FLAMES OF ANY SORT ARE ALLOWED (excluding approved portable camping stoves). This includes, but is not limited, to campfires, portable camping stoves, tiki torches, charcoal grills and stoves, candles, etc.

  • No liquid fuel tanks of any type are allowed.

  • No propane lanterns are allowed.

  • No charcoal stoves are allowed.

  • If you plan on using a one (1) lb cook stove, we suggest you come equipped with your own fire extinguisher.

  • All structures must maintain emergency access, so please don’t crowd, and keep the openings to your structures accessible!

  • No indoor furniture is allowed on any campsite. 

  • No generators are allowed except for the designated generators allowed area at the Across the Way campground (see Frequently Asked Questions below).

    These rules will be strictly enforced in accordance with NYS Health Department regulations. Campsites that are found to not be in compliance with ALL of the campsite regulations listed above must come into compliance within one (1) hour of notification, or their belongings will be removed and held in the Volunteer Security Office.

TENT CAMPING

Across the Way, there are two designated areas for tent-only camping: The woods, which is in full shade all day as it is fairly densely wooded. The other option is the Knoll, which is all open space without shade, but it does have a wonderful breeze and beautiful view. 

TENT CAMPING IN THE WOODS

$225 plus fees

Woods tent sites are 20’x20’ or 400 square feet. These sites are big enough for one large tent or one small tent and a small pop-up shade tent. Attendees with large tents that do not allow for the five (5) foot separation distance to be maintained between structures, with regulations described below, will be moved to overflow sites at the Across the Way Campground.

TENT CAMPING IN THE KNOLL

$155 plus fees

Knoll tent sites are 20’x20’ or 400 square feet. Knoll tent sites are big enough for one 15’x15’ tent. Attendees with large tents that do not allow for the five (5) foot separation distance to be maintained between structures, with regulations described below, will be moved to overflow sites at the Across the Way Campground.

TENT CAMPSITE RULES:

  • You MUST maintain a FIVE (5) FOOT separation distance between your structures and structures on neighboring sites, but no separation distance needs to be maintained between structures on your site. This means that you are required to keep two and a half (2.5) feet of open space between the end of structures on your site and the painted border line between neighboring sites. You will need to work with your neighbors so all campsites are in compliance.

  • Structures on your site may be placed just inside roadway lines, without leaving a two and a half (2.5) foot clearing. Sites must not infringe on roadways and pathways - keep all access roads clear.

  • Structures include tents, pop-ups, tarps, tapestries, etc., including fencing.

  • NO OPEN FLAMES OF ANY SORT ARE ALLOWED. This includes, but is not limited to campfires, portable camping stoves, tiki torches, gas or charcoal grills, candles, etc.

    There are NO vehicles allowed in the tent camping areas at any time. You many not drive any vehicle to a tent site to drop off or pick up your belongings.There is a large parking area at our Across the Way Campground at 8669 Falls Rd. where those planning on tent camping will be within walking distance of your vehicles. There is also a shuttle from Across the Way to the Fairgrounds that operates during posted hours.

    These rules will be strictly enforced in accordance with NYS Health Department regulations.     GrassRoots is very stringent in regards to the camping rules. There will be no exceptions, so please plan accordingly. If you have a tent larger than 15’x15’, we suggest teaming up with a friend to purchase a large vehicle site as you will not only have more space, but you will also save money. Any tent campsites with tents larger than 15x15’ will be moved to an Overflow campsite at Across The Way.

FREQUENTLY ASKED QUESTIONS

When can I purchase a campsite?

All camp sites go on sale on Valentine’s Day, February 14 at 9 AM ET.

Is admission included with a camping ticket?

No, admission and camping are sold separately.

What if we purchased a large campsite, but both vehicles aren’t arriving at the same time?

At Across the Way & On-site Vehicle Camping, all vehicles will get a vehicle sticker with their site number on it. Vehicles do not have to arrive at the same time. When the first vehicle checks in, we will be able to note in our system that the second vehicle is arriving later if that is the case. If you have a vehicle camping pass and need to leave the festival grounds, we request that you do so between 8 a.m. and 12 p.m. No re-entry after dark.

Can I use a generator for my RV?

No generators are allowed On-site, but there is a specific area for RVs with generators to camp at Across The Way. Please purchase a large site at Across the Way if having a generator is part of your plan. These sites are B74-B112, AND C68, C69, C80, C81, AND C82. Bring your generator full of gas! Gas cans are not permitted at campsites.

Are there any designated quiet family camping spaces?

Yes. These sites are J1-13, G5-G11, H2-H7, and I5-I14 at Across the Way.

Can we come early?

Early camping will be available starting at 9:00 am Wednesday, July 17th at Across the Way for Across the Way campsite purchasers only. Early set up will cost $25 and can be purchased at the gate.

Can I cook at my campsite?

You may cook at Large Vehicle sites at Onsite and ALL Vehicle sites at Across the Way using a portable cooking stove with a one (1) lb gas cylinder only. Cooking at Small Vehicle sites at Onsite and ANY tent sites at Onsite or Across the Way is strictly prohibited.

How much fuel can I bring for my portable camping stove?

Large vehicle cooking sites at Onsite, and all vehicle sites at Across the Way may have ONLY a 1 lb gas cylinder.

No one under the age of 18 is permitted to camp at the festival without a parent or guardian.
